We can make our plans, but the
final outcome is in God’s hands.
—Proverbs 16:1
The 70 mph speed limit on I-45 would get me to my Wednesday evening speaking appointment with time to spare. Oops! A sea of red taillights—and signs: “Road Construction.” “Expect Delays.” “Detour Ahead.”
We don’t get through life without encountering road construction, traffic jams, and detours.
Has your life trip been interrupted? You were zooming; now, you’re creeping. Detour. Rough road. Unfamiliar terrain. You don’t know what’s around the next curve or over the next hill. It’s getting dark, and it’s scary.
Solomon wrote a sentence about it: “We can make our plans, but the final outcome is in God’s hands” (Prv 16:1).
You may feel lost and out of control. But God knows where you are, and he is in ultimate control. It may not feel like it, but you’re in good hands.
You’ll get through this.
