Do not fear . . . I will help you, says the Lord.
—Isaiah 41:14
I have seen my neighbor carry his two-year-old down the stairs from their upper-level apartment many times. Today the little guy was determined to do it on his own.
I watched that cute kid—and his dad. And dad had his eye on the child. He was letting him negotiate the descent, but there was no way he’d let him fall. He stayed close enough to grab him in an eyeblink.
It reminded me of our Father. If you’re facing uncertainty, listen to his assurance: “Who controls human events? I do! I am the Lord. . . . I am holding your hand, so don’t be afraid.” (Is 41:4, 13).
Together now, let us say: “When I am afraid, I will trust in you” (Ps 56:3).
Faith and fear can’t coexist.
Go with faith.
