The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous.
—1 Peter 3:12
When I first tried to talk to the two-year-old next door, he covered his eyes with his hands. His mother explained that he was bashful, and this was his way of hiding. She chuckled and said, “He thinks if he can’t see you, you can’t see him.”
He’s not the first: God asked the prophet Ezekiel, “Have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness? . . . They say, ‘The Lord does not see us’” (Ez 8:12).
Psalm 33:13–15 says that God sees everyone on earth and considers everything they do.
Jesus said some people “have stopped up their ears and have closed their eyes” (Mt 13:15).
Now, the good news: “The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayers” (1 Pt 3:12).
God looks at you and listens to you.
Look at Him and listen to Him.
