You are the light of the world.
—Matthew 5:14
A Peanuts cartoon has Lucy saying, “How could the world be getting worse with me in it? Ever since I was born the world has shown a distinct improvement!”
We grin. But then have to question if our presence in the world is making it better. Jesus said, “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven” (Mt 5:16).
Would it make a difference in your corner of the world if people saw “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” modeled (Gal 5:22)?
It makes a difference when people can say, “Our business is a better company because ______________ works here.” “Our neighborhood is a better place because ______________ lives here.”
Is our world better because you’re in it? I think it is.
A better world begins with you.
