If only I may finish the race
and complete the task.
—Acts 20:24
On December 26, 2018, Colin O’Brady completed the first solo, unassisted crossing of Antarctica. The 932-mile journey took fifty-four days.
In his book, The Impossible First, Colin wrote of the icy trek: “I was [fully immersed in the endeavor] the entire time [and] equally focused on the end goal.”
Paul said something similar about his spiritual journey: “I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me” (Acts 20:24). Again: “The time of my death is near. . . . I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me” (2 Tim 4:6–8.
Let that be your model: wholly immersed in living faithfully and fully focused on the end goal—the prize awaiting you.
Live every day with an eye on the last day.
