Do you really think you can find
someone or something to compare to Me?
—Isaiah 40:25
I watched as hundreds of handsome youngsters swarmed out of Klein High School as the school day ended—all of them, it seemed, staring at a smartphone screen. Not a smart thing to do, as the kid who smashed into a utility pole discovered.
Some statisticians opine that it is today’s most widespread addiction—victimizing all age and cultural categories.
Has your phone replaced your God?
The Smartphone is misnamed. It’s a technological marvel, but it can’t think or feel.
God made and carries humans; humans make and carry their idols (Is 46:4, 6–7). “They set it up in its place, and there it stands. From that spot it cannot move.”
“Shall I bow down to a block of wood?” (Is 44:19). Or to a human-made, hand-held gadget?
Only God is worthy of worship.
Never let human-made idols intrude.
