For as in Adam all die, so also
in Christ shall all be made alive.
—1 Corinthians 15:22
We exercise, we watch what we eat; which may—or may not—delay death. At best, it only postpones it.
Death is the biggest bully in the building. Fear is his most forceful weapon. Hebrews pictures humans as being held in slavery by their fear of death.
But that’s only the last part of the passage. The first part shows how your big brother stepped in and took on this bully: he “shared in [your] humanity that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death” (Heb 2:14–16).
You win this one: “Those who believe in [Jesus], even though they die, will live again” (Jn 11:25).
Don’t fear what isn’t final.
