Be conformed to the image of His Son.
—Romans 8:29
Ask any group what their favorite scripture is, and you can count on someone saying, Romans 8:28—“We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
You probably know the first half of that verse better than the last half: “those who are the called according to His purpose.”
Don’t stop there, for the next verse reveals what His purpose is: “to be conformed to the image of His Son.”
What is “the image of His son”? Here’s the short answer in the Son’s own words: “[I] did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give [my] life a ransom for many” (Mk 10:45).
God’s desire is to make you like Jesus: a serving, giving disciple.
Be more like Jesus when you go to bed tonight
than you were when you got up this morning.
