I will not forget you!
—Isaiah 49:15
The bond between mother and child is like no other. She may be sheepish and reclusive—but attack her child, physically or orally, and look out!
The endearment lasts a lifetime. We’ve all seen a 350-pound jock, panned by TV cameras, flash a toothy grin and mouth for millions to see, “Love you, Mom!”
The people of Zion grumbled that God had abandoned them. God rebutted: “Can a woman forget her own baby and not love the child she bore? Even if a mother should forget her child, I will never forget you” (Is 49:15).
If you ever feel deserted by God, take a peek at the next verse: “I can never forget you! I have written your name on the palms of my hands.”
The only thing stronger than
a mother’s love is God’s love.
