Give thanks to the God of heaven.
His love endures forever.
—Psalm 136:26
You search the Hallmark rack for the just-right card for your spouse; the card that eloquently articulates your love that your own words can’t express.
You hold a picture of your child, fondly observing every feature of that handsome face. You love that child so deeply you can’t put it into words.
Your love-you-more-than-life affection for these dear ones had its beginning at a given point in time. Human love is time-stamped.
Divine love isn’t.
God’s love for you isn’t limited by clock or calendar: “I have loved you with an everlasting love” (Jer 31:3). God chose and loved you before the creation of the world (Eph 1:4). And he will love you forever: His love is “from everlasting to everlasting” (Ps 103:17).
God’s love embraces you from before birth to beyond the grave.
Human feelings come and go.
God’s love comes but never goes.
