My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
—Psalm 121:2
One of twelve-year-old Bill Frey’s chores was to scout the family’s Georgia farm for stumps of pine trees that had been cut down, grub them out and chop them into kindling.
He was struggling with a stubborn one that he couldn’t budge when his dad approached and stood back and watched.
“I think I see your problem,” he finally said.
“What?” Bill grumbled.
“You’re not using all your strength.”
“Yes, I am!”
“No, you’re not using all your strength.”
“What do you mean?” Bill groused.
“You haven’t asked me to help you,” said his dad.
What’s your problem? Are you using all your strength? Have you asked your Father to help? You don’t have to lift alone.
Invite God into your impossibility.
