Our light and momentary troubles are achieving
for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
—2 Corinthians 4:17
“In this world you will have trouble,” Jesus said (Jn 16:33).
Illness will sink its fangs in you or in someone you love. Death will make widows and orphans of people close to you.
“You will have trouble,” he said. Now, celebrate the next sentence: “But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Past tense. Accomplished fact. “I HAVE overcome the world.”
The war is won. Satan is still swinging his sword, but not for long. Revelation 12:12 says, “He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.”
Dead end for him. Endless glory for you.
“The troubles will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever” (2 Cor 4:18 TLB).
Temporary trials. Timeless triumph.
