She did what she could.
—Mark 14:8
When Mary anointed Jesus, “the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume” (Jn 12:3).
Not just that house—the whole wide world has sniffed that scent, for Jesus said, “Wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”
“She did what she could,” he said.
We are responsible for doing what we can; we are not responsible for doing what we can’t.
Appreciate and applaud all who are doing what they can, for the body has many members and these members do not all have the same function (Rom 12:4).
Collectively “we are to God the aroma of Christ” (2 Cor 2:15).
Do what you can with
what you have where you are.
