[B]y his power he may fulfill
every good purpose of yours.
—2 Thessalonians 1:11
How are you coming on those New Year’s Resolutions? The year is almost half gone, so this might be a good time for a checkup.
Regina Brett made ten resolutions, printed each on an index card and tossed them into a bowl on her desk. She takes them out now and then and grades herself.
Love life unconditionally. (Okay, I’m loving most of it.)
Forgive everyone, everything. (Most people.)
Surrender every day to God’s will. (Most days.)
Let go of fears. (Most of them.)
Measure my success at the end of each day by answering this: Did you love today? (Making progress.)
Hike every week. (Nope.)
Love my mom more. (Check.)
Let go of work defining me. (Check.)
Let go of guilt motivating me. (Check.)
Let go of judging others. (Oops.)
How about you?
Try again. And again. And again.
