In my Father’s house are many rooms.
—John 14:2
“You’re not wanted!” Do you know of a sentence that cuts more deeply?
“You’re not wanted in our club.”
“You’re not wanted in our restaurant.”
“You’re not wanted in our church.”
“You’re not wanted in my life.”
Things got off to a bad start for Jesus, and went downhill from there.
While still in the womb, the Innkeeper said, “You’re not wanted here.”
Nazareth said, “You’re not wanted in our town.
Orthodox bigwigs said, “You’re not wanted in our fraternity.”
Those who orchestrated his death said, “You’re not wanted in our world.”
But he wants you! “In my Father’s house are many rooms . . . I am going there to prepare a place for you.”
When you make room for him in your heart, he makes room for you in his Father’s house. He wants you there.
Give him a home here and
he will give you a home there.
