He did not do many miracles there
because of their lack of faith.
—Matthew 13:58
The big fish in Jesus’ hometown were amazed at his teaching—and he was amazed at their lack of faith (Mk 6:2, 6).
They’d known him since he was a kid riding his bike on their sidewalks. They weren’t buying the press he was getting.
Voltaire declared: “Even if a miracle should be wrought in the open market place before a thousand sober witnesses, I would rather mistrust my senses than admit a miracle.”
“Unbelief,” wrote Lenski, “always finds a way to decline the truth, no matter with what credentials it is presented.”
Jesus challenged even his closest disciples with this question: “Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear?” (Mk 8:18).
Read your Bible with a set-in-stone faith that what it says is totally true.
God doesn’t grade you on your talent,
but on your faith.
