Through Christ our comfort overflows.
—2 Corinthians 1:5
You didn’t sign up for single parenting, nursing a terminally ill spouse, or caring for a parent with Alzheimer’s.
But here you are, dealing with something you weren’t prepared for. You’ve had to master the course on the fly. You’ve handled it well, but it’s been a bear—and more than once you’ve wondered “Why me?”
Here’s a possibility. 2 Corinthians 1:4 says that God “comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”
You didn’t invite this trouble, but you can invite God in to help you. And there’s a good chance that he is going to insert you in someone else’s life to help them as his representative.
Be alert. Be compassionate. Be available.
