He must leave all he owns to
someone who has not worked for it.
—Ecclesiastes 2:21
It won’t be long until everything that now belongs to you will belong to someone else.
When God faced off with a man whose life was absorbed in beefing up his assets he said, “You fool! Tonight you will die. Then who will get what you have stored up?” (Lk. 12:20).
Eventually a day will dawn with this caption: “This is the day you die.” Then, this question: “Who gets your stuff?”
That question haunted Solomon. He knew that one day he would leave everything he’d worked for to an heir—“And who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool?” he fretted.
It’s yours for a while. Then who gets it?
The mortality rate is 100%.
