The things revealed belong to us.
—Deuteronomy 29:29
There are some things that we don’t know and some things that we will never know.
Know-it-alls have a hard time admitting that. They know everything about everything—frequently wrong, but never in doubt.
“Ignorance lies not in the things you don’t know” said Will Rogers, “but in the things you know that ain’t so.”
Jesus’ disciples wanted to know more than he revealed. He explained, “I have much more to say to you, but right now it would be more than you could understand” (Jn. 16:12).
When you hit a rough patch that you can’t understand, here’s a sentence worth remembering: “The hidden things belong to the Lord … the revealed things belong to us …” (Deut. 29:29).
Sometimes you just have to leave it at that.
Trust God to reveal what you need
to know on a need-to-know basis.
