Increase our faith!
—Luke 17:5
When God told Abraham to leave his country and set out for a mystery destination, he “obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going” (Heb. 11:8).
But when God told him he would have many descendants, his faith went wobbly. He had no children for heaven’s sake.
God sat on his hands for the next 24 years—then repeated the promise when Abraham was ninety-nine and Sarah was pushing ninety. They both got the giggles over that.
But when baby Isaac came howling into the world Abraham’s faith took a giant leap; so much so that when God ordered him to sacrifice that son, he believed “that if Isaac died God would bring him back to life” (Heb. 11:19 TLB).
Are God’s promises reliable? You better believe it!
God doesn’t expect your faith to be perfect.
But he does expect it to be growing.
