O Lord, you have searched
me and you know me.
—Psalm 139:1
Ps. 139 acknowledges El Roi—“the God who sees”; the One who knows everything there is to know about you.
O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise. He knows all of your comings-and-goings.
You perceive my thoughts. He knows every image, vision, fantasy that crosses your mind.
You are familiar with all my ways. He knows all your doings and desires.
Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely. He knows everything you say, even before you say it.
Every moment of your life is spent in the presence of a God who hears all and sees all … not to catch you doing something wrong, but to protect you—even from yourself.
He cares that much.
He watches all, hears all, cares about all.
