I the Lord do not change.
—Malachi 3:6
You have known a kind, lovable person who became bitter and belligerent, right? An optimistic, compassionate person who became cynical and cold.
That isn’t God’s persona. He is faithful, merciful, just, good. Always has been; is now; always will be.
Your word, O Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. Your faithfulness continues through all generations. (Ps. 119:89-90).
The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made (Ps. 145:13).
God stands behind his promises—then, now, and forever.
Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? (Num. 23:19).
What God does in time, he planned in eternity; what he planned in eternity he carries out in time.
All that he has promised will inevitably be done.
We live in an ever-changing world
but serve a never-changing God.
