Sons are a heritage from the
Lord, children a reward from him.
—Psalm 127:3
Always listen to your children.
Find something in them to praise; compare them favorably—never unfavorably—with others.
Urge them to do their best, but make sure they know that your love is not based on their performance.
Treasure them for what they are, not for what you wanted them to be.
Teach them that what they cannot do must not keep them from doing what they can do—that peace of mind and a sense of self-worth come from knowing they did their best.
Instill in them an understanding that there is dignity in work; that satisfaction comes from a job well done; that success is the result of patience, persistence, and prayer.
Make them feel safe, wanted, loved.
When you listen you show you care.
