Love your neighbor as yourself.
—Leviticus 19:18
Your friend is a baby step from the edge of the cliff because of secret sins. You assure her of God’s love and forgiveness. You love your neighbor as yourself.
Now love yourself as your neighbor. Treat yourself with as much kindness and understanding as you do those you love.
God stands with open arms to embrace and forgive. He loves you more than you can imagine. Don’t try to hide secret sins from him. Talk to him.
Here are some words to get you started …
Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin … Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me (Ps. 51:1-2, 10 NLT).
We are as sick as our secrets.
