Who will bring any charge against
those whom God has chosen?
—Romans 8:33
Rom. 8:34 gives four reasons why we escape condemnation:
1) Christ died;
2) Christ was raised;
3) Christ ascended;
4) Christ is interceding.
That pinpoints what Christ has done for us, and what he is doing for us.
“He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification” (Rom. 4:25). That’s what he has done for us.
“He is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them” (Heb. 7:25). That’s what he is doing for us.
He is in the presence of God, not as our prosecutor, but as our defender; not to make a case against us, but to state the case for us; not as our enemy, but as our friend.
Our salvation depends on what he has done
and is doing. We’re in good hands.
