Get rid of all bitterness.
—Ephesians 4:31
If you’ve been around a spell, you have been mistreated … by a spouse, a parent, a child, a teacher, an employer, a co-worker, a friend.
And you’ve probably been waylaid by an agonizing chapter in your life: divorce, failure, betrayal, illness, loss.
The natural reaction is bitterness.
Say “No!” to the natural reaction.
Unless bitterness is deep-sixed it takes over: it is destroyed or it destroys; it is conquered or it conquers.
Bitterness enslaves, for it controls your thoughts, making your happiness dependent on the person or incident that’s gnawing at you—and neither is worthy of running and ruining your life.
Bitterness creates a lot of problems, but never solves one.
Nip it in the bud.
Life is shaped by what you cherish
—and by what you resent.
