We all stumble in many ways.
—James 3:2
First verse: God has never used anyone who hasn’t stumbled. Never will. Because as James wrote, “We all stumble.”
Second verse: God has never used anyone who didn’t get up and give it another try after stumbling.
Two well-known examples …
David. The first thing that comes to mind is the binoculars-on-the balcony blunder. End of story? Not by a long shot. You know the rest of the story.
Peter. The first thing that comes to mind is his weak-kneed repudiation of Jesus. End of story? Not by a long shot. You know the rest of the story.
Stumbling is a stubborn fact of life. It happens. You’ve been there. The question is, will you lie there in permanent defeat, or will you get up, dust off, and move on?
Give up or Get up? It’s your choice.
