You are familiar with all my ways.
—Psalm 139:3
Watching you, watching you, There’s an all-seeing eye watching you!
That song scared the daylights out of a lot of kids. Adults too.
Still can. A quick trot through the Ten Commandments and the Eight Beatitudes is enough to convince you that you’re sunk; nailed by the all-seeing eye.
You’ve probably gotten past that—learned that God is watching over you because he loves you, not because he’s champing at the bit to catch you breaking the rules.
You carefully observe me when I travel or when I lie down to rest; you are aware of everything I do (Ps. 139:3 NET).
There isn’t a mile or a minute when God isn’t watching out for you.
Not a mile or a minute when he isn’t concerned about you.
Not a mile or a minute when he doesn’t love you.
The all-seeing eye has an all-forgiving heart.
