We do not have a high priest
who is unable to sympathize.
—Hebrews 4:15
“He doesn’t understand; doesn’t know what I’m going through.” That may be true, even about someone close to you.
But it isn’t true about Jesus. He did something he didn’t have to do—came to earth and went through what you’re going through. You’ll experience nothing that he doesn’t understand, for you’ll go nowhere that he hasn’t been.
Financial hardship? He had no place to lay his head.
Bereavement? His dad died when he was just a kid, and his best friend was murdered when he was thirty.
Betrayal? An inner-circle pal sold him out for a sack of blood-tainted bucks.
We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all … (Heb. 4:15 MSG).
He knows where you have been,
where you are, and where you’re going.
