We wait for the blessed hope—
the glorious appearing of … Jesus Christ.
—Titus 2:13
The words crushed his disciples’ hearts—“I will be with you only a little longer” (Jn. 13:33).
The only thing that made those unbearable words bearable was the postscript—“I am going to prepare a place for you … I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am” (Jn. 14:3).
Jesus is in heaven building you an eternal home “that can never perish, spoil or fade” (1 Pet. 1:4).
While he is there preparing that place for you, the Holy Spirit is here preparing you for that place.
God sent Jesus to us the first time to save a world gone badly wrong. He will send him a second time to bring his children home.
What a “glorious appearing” that will be!
We don’t know the when, but we know
the what: he’s coming again.
