(He) is able to do immeasurably
more than all we ask or imagine.
—Ephesians 3:20
God shapes us in various ways …
Sometimes he tweaks, making minor revisions.
Sometimes he skips minor revisions and goes for major makeovers.
Sometimes he adds or deletes a chapter here and there.
Sometimes he trashes the manuscript and starts fresh.
You’ve heard the old saw about how God answers prayer: sometimes he says “Yes,” sometimes he says “No,” sometimes he says “Wait.”
We got that wrong. God never says “No” to your prayers. When it seems that he does, back off and watch for his “immeasurably more.”
When you get home, if he chooses to display his answers alongside your prayers, you’ll say, “So that’s how that played out! I didn’t think that prayer was even heard; he heard alright, and did immeasurably more than I asked for or even imagined.”
You will always get it right if you’re
willing to let God edit your prayers.
