The acts of the sinful nature are obvious.
—Galatians 5:19
The light rail line in Houston, Texas, has been a fiasco of cars crashing into trains. In spite of dozens of posted “Do Not Turn” signs, illegal turns have been the cause of most of the smashups.
Transit engineers have tried to fix the problem by programming traffic signals to turn lights red in all directions when trains approach an intersection.
Hasn’t worked. It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to size up the problem—signs and signals are being ignored.
Your Bible has some warning signs, too. There’s a cluster of them in Galatians 5—alerts about lust, hatred, jealousy, anger, criticism, envy, and selfish ambition.
When you see any of these red lights flashing, it’s time to hit the brakes.
The best way to win a collision with sin
is to avoid the collision in the first place.
