When the time had fully come, God sent his Son.
—Galatians 4:4
She had made some bad choices and was now trying to turn her life around.
“I have taken the first step toward God,” she said. “I’m hoping that he will meet me halfway.”
Good for her. Kudos for her effort.
But she—and we—need to be clear about two things …
First, we didn’t take the first step, he did. And it was a giant one. Christ’s trip from heaven to earth was incomprehensibly long. Our jaunts into outer space aren’t a half-block by comparison.
Second, he didn’t meet us halfway, he came all the way—the full distance from where he was to where we are, bringing with him our gift of salvation.
He came to where we are
to take us where he is.
