What is impossible with men is possible with God.
—Luke 18:27
Over a half-century ago J.B. Phillips wrote a book titled Your God is too Small. In it he sketched common conceptions (or misconceptions) of God … one of those being a God who is distant and disinterested, unfeeling and unreachable.
We don’t expect much from a God like that.
But we expect a lot from a God like Paul pictures: one who is able to do more than all we ask or imagine (Eph. 3:20).
When you were a child you thought your father could do anything. He couldn’t. But your Father can. Your father had limitations. But your Father doesn’t.
Expect a lot from your Father, for however much you expect he is capable of more, much more.
Humans do the amazing.
God does the impossible.
