I have loved you with an everlasting love.
—Jeremiah 31:3
God in heaven doesn’t prohibit tragedy on earth, but he does promise his unfailing love: “Though the mountains be shaken … yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken … says the Lord, who has compassion on you” (Isa. 54:10).
Lay your wounds alongside those of Paul and a band aid will do for you whereas he needed stitches and staples. Yet, he said that he was convinced that nothing in all creation is able to separate us from the love of God (Rom. 8:38-39).
You will never be where God’s love isn’t, for it follows you wherever you go. You may not seek it. You may not see it. You may not believe it. You may not deserve it. But you can’t escape it.
The true measure of God’s love is
that he loves without measure.
