Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance
of the Law of the Lord, and to teaching its decrees.
—Ezra 7:10
Various translations of this text emphasize three things about Ezra: 1) he was committed to study God’s Law; 2) to do it; and, 3) to teach it.
Study the Word; obey the Word; share the Word.
That was a plan Jesus approved. He said, “everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock” (Matthew 7:24).
Study the Word; obey the Word; share the Word.
Study the Word: don’t let the day pass without dipping into the Word. Obey the Word: what is says to do, do. Share the Word: pass along what you’ve learned, loved, and lived by.
The Bible dusted and displayed changes nothing.
The Bible studied and obeyed changes everything.
